Norfolk brewery Fengate‘s Imperial Extra Double Stout has been crowned Beer of the Festival at the 45th Norwich Beer Festival today, judged by customers at the Festival. The 10.5% dark beer is a fine example of the style, with flavours of dark chocolate and roasted barley, and aromas of coffee and a hint of cherry.
The silver medal went to Little Critters of Sheffield, with Nutty Ambassador, a 6% stout with a hazelnut nose, and the bronze to another Norfolk brewery Duration, a newcomer to the Festival, with their Turtles all the way Down, a ‘juicy’ 5.5% New World IPA featuring Mosaic and Hallertau Blanc hops.
