For the Branch competition, members are asked to nominate pubs, which are then validated to ensure they have scored highly for beer quality during the preceding year.
Members then score the pubs on the shortlist. The pub with the best average score is the Pub of the Year.
Nomination and scoring are done online using our dedicated Pub of the Year site.
There are three awards, which all use the same scores:
* City Pub of Year is the Norwich pub with the highest average score
* District Pub of the Year is the pub outside Norwich with the highest score
* Branch Pub of the Year is the highest scoring pub overall (so automatically also City or District winner).
The Branch Pub of the Year then goes forward to the following rounds:
* County for Norfolk Pub of the Year, against the winners of the other three branches, judged by members of the Norfolk branches.
* Regional for East Anglian Pub of the Year, against the winners of the other five counties, judged by members of the East Anglian branches. For details, and to participate in the judging, click here.
* Super Regional to be one of the four Finalists, against the winners of three other regions, judged by a selected panel.
* National to be National Pub of the Year, against the other three finalists, judged by a selected panel.
