Aylsham is a pleasant market town 40 minutes from Norwich and 30 minutes from Cromer, and makes an ideal destination in its own right, as well as a stop on the way to or from the coast.
The Sanders X41, X44 and 44A buses all stop in the market place in the centre, overlooked by the Black Boys pub, owned by the local Colchester family, who have several other pubs in the area, all well-known for their food offer. (Colchester is their surname, not their origin!).
Also on or very near the market is the Unicorn, a pizza place with a bar in the old Post Office called Stamp, and a number of small shops.
To the south you’ll find the Aylsham Social Club, a previous winner of Club of the Year, and a little further the Feathers.
Leaving the market to the north via Red Lion St, there’s M’s, a ‘quirky cocktail bar’, with tapas and a fish deli, plus a good selection of Norfolk real ales in bottle, The Living Room, a lively modern bar, the Porters Arms, a micropub opened in 2023 by the owners of the Malt & Mardle in Norwich, with a great selection of real ales, and Bar 44, a French-style café bar with a real ale on cask in the cellar.
Plenty of options, but please do check opening times, as most of the above are not open full pub hours!
