Each year, a Beer of the Festival is selected, based on scores given by customers using the online beer list. Category prizes, by beer style, are also awarded if there are sufficient scores submitted.
Norfolk brewery Fengate‘s Imperial Extra Double Stout was crowned Beer of the Festival at the 45th Norwich Beer Festival, judged by customers at the Festival. The 10.5% dark beer is a fine example of the style, with flavours of dark chocolate and roasted barley, and aromas of coffee and a hint of cherry.
The silver medal went to Little Critters of Sheffield, with Nutty Ambassador, a 6% stout with a hazelnut nose, and the bronze to another Norfolk brewery Duration, a newcomer to the Festival, with their Turtles all the way Down, a ‘juicy’ 5.5% New World IPA featuring Mosaic and Hallertau Blanc hops.
